Briseis Ref Sheet

Description

This is my trainer for any FakeLeague battle. YES! She was for Helios, but that ain't happening.

This is Bri and her team. She's a know-it-all with a decidedly Greek name. Yeah, I've been reading The Iliad and The Odyssey recently and I fell in love with Briseis' name.

Bri is an older, prettier, female and somewhat more classy version of the Pokenerds that lurk just outside of towns with their electronic pikachus trying to impress other trainers with their complete lack of battling skills. If you recall, there was an episode of the Pokemon anime where Ash and his friends show up at a special school for teaching pokemon nerds, and they actually had a grasp of how to battle? Bri's one of those kids. She actually knows what she's doing, and she makes sure you know she knows. If you try to question or correct her, she'll put you in your place. If she doesn't actually know everything, she's pretty good at covering it up. Right now her goal is to become a Pokemon Researcher, which I suppose would be poke-biology. She's submitted applications to intern at different Safari Zones and Research Centers, and is still waiting to hear back. While she waits, she trains her team and tries to figure out what she'll do if she doesn't get the job. Right now the best option seems to be traveling the world and learning from hands-on experience.

Most of her pokemon have been with her for quite some time. She went through a traveling phase, ranging all over Sinnoh. Although somewhat well traveled, she tends to think in somewhat sheltered terms. She's also not the best with kids, as it says in the sheet. She can be nice, but it's difficult to keep her temper around kids. Or anyone she finds annoying or dumb. That's a lot of people, considering she thinks she knows everything.

Pokemon:

Shawn:
Caught by her brother Polyvios as a Mareep, Shawn made it clear that he preferred Brisies's company early on. She traded her brother an Oddish for him. Since then, Shawn has grown to be one of her staunchest friends. Apart from his battling skills, it is Shawn who was there to hear all of Bri's little girl problems, and her teenage problems, and now, every once in a while, her big girl problems. He is the unofficial leader of the team. In battle he attempts to overwhelm a foe with rapid strong attacks. His love of Discharge makes him a touch predictable though.

Baldy:
A proud pokemon. Baldy considers himself the leader of the herd (despite all evidence to the contrary). He is likely to bite, kick or impale someone he takes a dislike to, especially if someone tries to touch him without permission. He shares in Bri's competitive nature, and doesn't have to pretend it's in the name of science.
In battle he avoids physical contact if possible, preferring to char a foe from a distance. If he lets them get too close, he runs the risk of being touched, and we can't have that!

Starry:
One of the first pokemon Bri ever caught. Originally Starry was just around to use Fly, but it soon became apparent that she was quite adept at battling. She's extremely friendly, especially for a predatory bird. She'll make friends so long as she isn't supposed to be battling, and even after fights she's been known to try to make it up to her opponent.
She fights hard, willing to give everything she has in a battle. It's difficult to call her back, even when she is about to fall over from exhaustion. She's also not fond of potions, although berries are a different story.

Zambezi:
Zambezi evolved late. Very late. Like less than a month ago. It's difficult to tell if she's happy about the change. In fact, she seems almost bipolar at times. Of all Bri's pokemon, Zambezi is the one most likely to try to disobey. She doesn't really care about badges, and she's big enough to get her own way.
She likes to eat, sleep, and despite being a ground pokemon thinks bathtime is the best thing in the world. Bubble baths are even better. Bathtime, in Zambezi's opinion, should be a twice-daily affair.
In battle she is a nasty, vengeful monster. Bri is worried that one day the hippowdon will go too far and there will be more than a KO to deal with. She also does a poor job of directing her attacks strictly at her foe. She's knocked the rest of her team-and her trainer, to the ground, or even completely out, with her Earthquake attack, and it never really seems to be an accident.

Ryu:
Ryu, first of all, closes her mouth. That's not something gyrados are known for, really. She's also rather curious. A touch smaller than most gyrados, she tries to get into places she really shouldn't. It's difficult for her to understand that she's a large, scary monster to most others and that they're running from her, not some mysterious thing behind her.
Ryu is fast, but never makes the first move in a battle. After all, there's someone new to investigate over here. Perhaps they want to be friends? The second she is attacked, however, she reacts swiftly and violently.
She's a bit of a singer too. Rather, she hums. It's sort of like whale song, if whales growled.

Congo:
Congo is very bad at hiding what he thinks of others. While he usually keeps a straight face around others, his tail usually gives a fairly accurate expression of what he's really thinking. He took a long time to decide he liked Bri. After being caught while trying his best to impress a lady girafarig, he felt like he'd been denied something by his captor/trainer. A stint at a Daycare cured him of that opinion. He loves stealing things and hiding them, be it from Bri, another trainer, or a complete stranger. He is afraid of ghost types, despite the immunity his species has due to the combined types.
Originally Congo's fighting style was very physical. As his psychic abilities blossomed, he began to rely on them more and more. He very rarely comes within three feet of an opponent anymore, at least not of his own accord. He is fast, but in close quarters it doesn't do him much good, as he's really more of a ranged fighter. In this case, the best thing for him to do is run away until he's got room to strike back.

BTW, the template for this thing came from Helios Conference, hence the watermark.
