Ludwig von Drake by applescruff Ludwig von Drake by applescruff
So there was this really sad little rubber duck at work that someone had found. It was pretty beat up, and the eyes were rubbing off and generally he made me sad to see him just sitting by the computer in such a state. I left a note on him asking if anyone was going to claim him as their own and if so, would they mind if I decorated him. I got no response, so I went to it.
I have always wanted to make a Ludwig von Drake rubber duck. Now I have. I think I'll have to do this one again, but he's cute for something I'll be leaving next to the computer to clock in with.
Mostly paper maché on a rubber duck, with acrylic paint.

Awww he's precious!  I'm sure the computer place is much improved by your contribution :D

It would be if I were allowed to keep him there. He was put back where he belonged and within two minutes coworkers just went, "Oh no, he can't stay here! Someone will take him!" So they put him somewhere safe, probably in the office in the back, but I thought it was pretty funny considering nobody cared about him before I did the decorations.

That's sweet of them.  Also they're probably right which is less sweet but you did say you'd like to try making him again-- maybe you could have a duck exchange sign "please don't take but if you must, please compensate with another unloved rubber ducky"

Well, if I make him again I am keeping him. There is an enormous collection of rubber ducks in our house, including a couple I have customized. There's a Darkwing Duck, and a tribute to a real wood duck named Samson, and my dad made one into an Electrical Parade float.

I had a really hard time saying he was done, because I kept seeing things that were not right, could be better, but I opted to just try to let it go and let things be. Everyone else thinks he's marvelous, so I should be proud even if I do think little things could be better.

Thanks! First thing, I brought him in and one of my coworker touched them and they came off and I had to fish out some glue. I thought it was hilarious but he was mortified and kept apologizing for being so clumsy. It was fine, and easily fixed.

:ohnoes: I hate it when things break right away! Did you attach it any differently the second time?

No, it is just white glue I used both times. Glad I used it for the first time so the guy wasn't so mortified. Glue is easily had, right? I think I put extra glue on this time but that is all.
